Jann Berman - Partner
Jann's career in public relations, event planning/production, marketing, sales promotion, retail and manufacturing span 35 years. Prior to relocating to Los Angeles to manage sales promotions/events for a chain of 17 home furnishing stores, Jann was a partner in both an advertising/PR agency and an Arizona feeder airline to American Airlines. After being recruited by one of the largest retail chains in the country, Jann utilized her industry marketing, sales and development industry expertise to focus its sales promotion strategy and broaden the 48-store presence in five state areas.
Her promotional responsibilities included creative event planning and public relations on an international scale, hosting heads of state, government liaises, and merchandising promotions for selected countries. Additional retail marketing relationships throughout her career include Dior, Ralph Lauren, Hanes, Givenchy, Absorba, and Carters et al. Further, Jann served as the merchandising director for Jane Fonda as well as creating and directing 27 gala openings for the Broadway, May Company and Bullocks department stores, Los Angeles Public Library, Paramount Studios and the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.
Lucia Singer McCarthy - Partner
Lucia, born with an American passport but in the city of Forio on the Italian island of Ischia, spent her youth traveling the globe with her family to assist her father in completing various documentary projects as a Medical Anthropology Professor. After graduating with a cum laude Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, her career in website design, production, marketing and public relations spans over 10 years and two demographic areas. Prior to locating to Los Angeles, she was a Project and Marketing Manager for AppNet Inc. (now Commerce One) in Detroit.
Upon her move to LA, she worked in the "business" at Essential Entertainment where she launched and managed the website for
Brash.com, as well as assisting in the development of entertainment content tailored to the brand positioning needs of consumer product marketers. After completing the website project for Essential Entertainment, Lucia became a publicist for Howard, Berman, Martinez & Bakula, Inc. She managed all areas of public relations and event planning with numerous family entertainment brands before leaving HBMB, Inc. and starting her own company B.S. Public Relations with Jann Berman in January 2001.
Her savvy, as well as, her combination of networking skills in sales, media relations and event marketing has enhanced a variety of projects and special events in meeting ambitious goals. In addition, her newly refreshed Italian language skills from planning her September 2006 wedding back in the town of Forio where she was born have started some international business development.
Candis M. Siman- Senior Associate
Born and raised in sunny California, Candis has always had an affinity for communicating with those around her and listening to "their story." As the youngest in her family, Candis attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and graduated in three years as a Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts in Journalism, emphasis in Public Relations and minor in Marketing. Her passion for the field of Public Relations encouraged Candis to explore a wide scope of industries ranging from non-profits to entertainment, Fortune 500 companies, restaurants, lifestyle as well as health and beauty. Candis worked among some of Los Angeles' top Publicists at the prestigious Warren Cowan & Associates handling such celebrities as John O' Hurley, Patrick Warburton, Eva Longoria and George Stults, where she helped to secure magazine features, and maintain her client's presence in the public eye.
Moving from the world of entertainment, Candis worked at Ink Foundry Public Relations with some of Los Angeles' most prominent restaurants, day spas and CarMax – A Fortune 500 Automotive Company. There she planned and coordinated media dinners, trade opportunities, partnerships, store openings for CarMax as well as a great deal of media exposure. Candis' motivation and persistence led to such media hits as an exclusive in the Wall Street Journal for Dr. Kerry Assil. She has also received features in such local and national media outlets as USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Daily News, People Magazine, STAR Magazine, Us Weekly, Time, "Eye on L.A.," STAR 98.7 FM and the FOX 11 News among many others. With a number of media hits under her belt, Candis quickly gained a reputation as a "pitching guru," finding angles and creative ideas that make her clients stand out.
